- CLUBBING ALONE PART 2 -
Well, as promised, this is my second post on clubbing alone.
One nice Wednesday night, I decided that I had to go out for some fun, just for a couple of hours or so.
So I got changed (party mode), got some cash and left for St James.
It been ladies night, entry was FREE! (Yippee) The best deal was that all ladies get 5 drinks each!
I had arrived about 10pm. There was already a crowd but the place was still not too packed. I stood at a round table (big enough for 5) with this man who also seemed to be alone.
I really don't know what you think about going clubbing alone but for me, I find it pathetic. Sometimes, I get a bit too self-conscious, because I worry I send the wrong vibes (come pick me up feel). Lately (after a few times alone), I cope better but I am still a people person. I prefer to be around people I know.
I got to the drinks queue, which was not too long (thank goodness), and got myself 2 glasses of bourbon. By the end of 2 glasses, the man at my table spoke to me (lets call him T).
T is this man who looks like your typical lecturer in school. He wore glasses, dressed in a office suit and to complete the effect, he wore a stern look. We were sharing the same ashtray and he pushed it nearer to me. I politely said thanks.
T: "You're welcome, so you are here alone?"
Me: "No, waiting for some friends. But they are late." (How can I admit I was alone? Did not want to send the wrong vibes. Too embarrassing anyway.)
T: "Oh I see. So what are you doing now, are you a student?" (God, is he a teacher undercover in a club?)
Me: "No, I am working now." (Honest Bel)
He starts talking a bit more about his work (IT line) and passes me his name card. I told him I would have given him mine if I had brought it.
After a while of talking.
T: "So your friends are still not here."
Me: "They are always like this. Let me call them." (So I tried to call them, fake numbers of course, pretends someone answers, talks a bit, then done.)
T: "So how? They coming?"
Me: (Pretending to be pissed, I am not sure whether I suceeded)
"No, they are at MOS. They asked me to go over but I am already here. It is not the first time they changed their minds."
I don't know whether T believed me. But it no longer mattered, it became an issue of face value. Whatever it was, I will still be that girl who got played out by her friends.
Music got a bit louder and it was more fun. I went to the drinks counter and got 3 bottles of beer. Then passed 1 to T. He was either shocked or pleasantly surprised. I could not really see in the dark, anyway.
We started dancing (Ok, me. He was like a tree. Hee.) Then finished our drinks about 12am. After that, T insisted that he buy drinks for me. I couldn't, as I had to leave, then he said he would send me home.
Eons later, 4 botttles of beer came.
Ok, I got high. It was massive drinking. 2bourbons+2beers+2beers = mixed up alcohol.
Bleahx.
We left about 2am. Mom got really pissed that she locked me out. After a while, it was ok and I managed to go home still.
It was good fun, but I have not contacted T since (I promised to call him once I got back from my "USA trip", but I probably can't cope with friendship built on lies)
Ok, my fault there. Loser Bel, but can you blame me for being too fun loving?
Cheers.
