The house was pretty. 3 big bedrooms, high cellings with huge fans (airy) and REALLY clean. This kind of place gets me feeling good, like you can just sit on the floor or lie there forever. (just like my home) His sister was really nice & mom was talking to her like they were long time friends. They spoke Hokkien & I suspected mom was probably nagging about her children (me & my brother) It is an old habit. The conversation goes like this (in Hokkien):
Mom: "Children when young, are so cute, but when they grow up, they become devils."
Sister: "Ya, nowadays not easy to take care of children."
Mom: "See my children for example, one drink & smoke (my brother), and another always come home late, go to pubs (ME)."
Me: (Thinking, wah lau, I knew this would happen, start to mutter under my breath in English) "Don't say too much."
Sister smiles. Actually, I think I had probably just shut down my brain, to deal with this kind of embarrassment from showing on my face.
Positive thinking, Isabel, positive thinking
After that, I played with the 2 children who were at home (his sister has 4 children), while mom continue talking & after that, watched tv.
We were there for about 2 hours & we went out for more shopping. Ok, to be honest, when mom is there, how much shopping can I do? Lol.
We went to this place called Tasek Plaza (Skudai area) & OMG, there was this place selling really nice blouses and jeans going for low prices. The shirts were like RM12 which is like about SGD$6! In the end, I just bought a pair of jeans for about RM50.
After this short outing, we went back to the house. By then, his brother's family, Da-ge & his sister's family were all there & we all went out for dinner.
In total, there were 7 children and 9 adults and we all ate at this big table. Food was good (better than Singapore, I thought). After dinner, we went home. It took about 1hour to drive out of Malaysia, across the causeway and back into Singapore into my home (fast!)
I thought the trip was good because I got a chance to see his family. The children were adorable & I had a lot of fun with them. I was happy & mom was too.
I don't know how his family felt about me & I have not got a chance to talk to Ken about this yet.
Maybe will talk to him tonight. (>.<)
